Dutch Bros University (DBU) serves as a critical player in the Field Operations System. We are charged with providing tools and education for all levels of Dutch Bros operations and their impact on daily operations. As an instructional designer you will help content experts craft thier message in an educational way that can then be shared company wide. These educational opportunities and tools will develop employees operationally, professionally, and personally as they spend their time with us.


Turn operational procedures and cultural recommendations into step by step educational processes for field operations:

  • Work with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs

  • Work as a team to determine instructional end goals and match content to those outcomes

  • Apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design to current DBU content

  • Develop exercises and activities that enhance the learning process

  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course and student retention

  • Maintain project documentation and course folders related to current content

Assist the DBU team in creating and adjusting educational materials to be clear, consistent, and effective:

  • Suggest adjustments to creative content to ensure engaging learning activities and well-organized operational and cultural lessons

  • Work with Content Director to match educational mediums to the branding needs in order to produce effective supporting materials.

Work across teams to help the DBU team anticipate, update, and stay current with educational or procedural content:

  • Work with the Analytics team to determine if evaluations are meeting the needs of these teams and their outcomes

  • Work with the Coaching team to make sure current trends and new ways of doing things are incorporated into current processes.

Team building, Personal/Professional Development, Cultural Activities (10%):

  • Familyhood, Family Day, Dubshot Fridays, Trav Talks, One on Ones, etc.

  • Conferences, workshops, staying current on industry trends through reading, listening to, and watching educational content.

  • Other activities as approved that improve your ability to perform.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or 3 years of experience in a comparable role

  • Experience working with enterprise LMS systems and creating interactive or gamified training methods for the classroom, business, or online formats.

  • Experience working with information technologies and or analytics

  • Knowledge of the Dutch Bros Culture and a passion for teaching and education

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including editing and proofreading skills with high attention to detail

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with instructional design work focussed on hybrid, workforce, or experiential learning formats and learning theories

  • Proficiency working with LMS systems, and other instructional design tools

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting up to ten lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a climate controlled, office environment
  • Vision must be good or corrected to normal to perform normal job duties
  • Hearing must be good to have the ability to understand information to perform job duties
  • Ability to read and write in English in order to process paperwork and follow up on any actions necessary
