Dutch Bros. has an immediate opening for an experienced commercial attorney who will draft and negotiate commercial contracts and license agreements, provide advice on developing and managing the Dutch Bros. intellectual property portfolio, and provide general business legal advice on a variety of topics related to Dutch Bros. operations. The position, located in Grants Pass, Oregon, offers a rewarding career with myriad intellectual challenges and regular collaboration with senior management and company counsel. You Will:

  • Work closely with the General Counsel to formulate and drive key department objectives.

  • Ensure accountability of team members for their expected outcomes, including the quality and timeliness of legal advice to senior management and other internal business clients.

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, including master purchase and service agreements, SAAS and cloud-based agreements, software licenses, professional service agreements, and asset purchase agreements.

  • Work closely with operations and procurement department staff to secure the Dutch Bros. supply chain and to assure compliance with all food safety regulations.

  • Ensure that the Dutch Bros. strategies, initiatives, policies and practices comply with law.

  • Develop and administer on-going training and education to the business regarding legal issues.

  • Support strategic business transactions. such as acquisitions, including drafting transaction documents and managing due diligence.

  • Collaborate with other core functions (e.g., Accounting, Tax, IT) in a results-oriented environment.

  • Drive a collective process improvement initiative to improve the company’s preparation, review, negotiation, and processing of contracts, including implementation of contract and document management systems.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of sustainable systems and processes to support the department in providing effective and efficient support    

  • Support the General Counsel in selection, retention, management and evaluation of outside counsel.



  • Law degree and 7+ years of experience in commercial law.

  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating all manner of commercial agreements.

  • Significant experience with supply chain and food safety security and compliance.

  • Experience collaborating on projects with multiple non-attorney stakeholders.

  • Experience developing and driving improved systems and processes.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; impeccable attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated, reliable, organized, and responsive.

  • Ability to prioritize work and respond to multiple demands while meeting time sensitive deadlines.

  • Superior business acumen and judgment; ability to balance business and legal risks.

  • Flexibility and adaptability.

  • Admitted to practice law in Oregon

  • 7+ years of experience in transactional business law including but not limited to drafting commercial contracts, intellectual property prosecution and enforcement, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and providing general business legal advice in the QSR or food retail industries.  


  1. Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements.

  2. Manage compliance of Dutch Bros. supply chain.

  3. Provide timely and actionable legal advice to Dutch Bros. departmental leadership.
